About Fitness Training for Golf. . .
I am a tournament golfer in Colorado. My search for the

Stacy Montgomery, the fitness director at McGetrick Golf Academy,
uses a functional and integrative approach to build a strong
foundation for an athletic swing that includes:
- Golf specific exercises custom-designed for individuals who
wish to improve their game and reduce injuries
- An effective flexibility program that can be performed both on
and off the course
- Core strengthening exercises to generate more power
- Movement patterns that include rotation and stabilization
which simulate and strengthen the golf swing
- Exercises for shoulders, arms, back and chest to increase
backswing capability
- Forearm and wrist exercises designed to improve strength and
control
- Hip and leg exercises that will increase power and stamina
during a full round
- Exercises that strengthen the muscles which support an optimal
spine angle throughout the swing
- Cardiovascular conditioning and nutrition consulting to
promote sustained energy and reduce fatigue on the course
About Stacy
Montgomery, McGetrick Golf Academy’s Fitness Director:
Stacy Montgomery trains golfers of all ability levels using a
unique and progressive approach to improving fitness and
performance. She has been a personal trainer for 14 years, focusing
on golf-specific fitness for the past seven. Stacy is passionate
about helping golfers improve their game and quality of life.
Stacy has a degree from the University of Minnesota, is certified
by the American Council on Exercise, is an IDEA Master Level Trainer
and has a nutrition consultation certificate. She was nominated as
Trainer of the Year in 2003 and was noted as one of the nation’s
top trainers in the March 2003 issue of Self Magazine. Stacy
has also been featured in Colorado Avid Golfer, GolfViews
Magazine, Cooking Light Magazine and the Denver Post.
Additionally, she is an experienced speaker at golf-related events.
Stacy is the author of Fit for Golf: Gain Strength, Power and
Flexibility, released in November 2003. The book is available at
